so which console...?

Hello everyone!

Since this is my first blog, I’ll talk about my gaming experience. My first encounter with video games was probably solitaire… (WOW how exciting! Sorry if I’m making you guys bored already.) Then I remembered my brother received some kind of device from our dad where you have to insert a card to play the games. I didn’t know what it was, and had no interest whatsoever. Up until recently, I found out that that was the first Nintendo console!

My actual gaming days began when I met my boyfriend four years ago, that was when I started playing Counterstrike. I would consider myself an addict, because I would be playing first thing in the morning and last thing before I go to sleep. I never continue playing a single game for more than three or four weeks. This was the same for all the other games I have played in the past four years: Left4Dead, Sims2 (had to upgrade the old graphics card to play it), God of War (bought a PSP just for this game), Mario (bought a Nintendo DS just for this game), Halo (yep…bought an x-box) and just recently stopped playing DOTA. I’m not a rich person, so I had to sell one console to buy a new one (mostly second hand consoles).

As games become newer, they are harder to please the audience because they expect more out of the games nowadays, such as the graphics, the storyboard or goals and use of controls…etc. A classmate from tutorial pointed out that he gets very annoyed at the unrealistic hand illustration in a guitar game. Having a good storyboard within the games is a priority because it captures its audience. Thus the industries have to constantly upgrade their products to keep buyers entertained. I think the speed of these new generations of gaming products are being upgraded way too quickly. This is understandable considering the competition between the companies. One thing I find very fascinating is that one of the simplest games is being played the most around the world – Farmville. Its graphic works are so simple and plain, yet the game is addictive.

  1. I agree with you on how generations of gaming products are upgraded too quickly, it's crazy huh! We are never satisfied with one thing. These days, the hype is all about having no controllers for your console, like the Xbox project Natal, have you seen it? Apparently Sony is also releasing the same type of 'no-controllers' console. If these upgrades are happening at this fast rate, imagine what more humans could possibly do with gaming in the near future..

  2. Having no controllers sounds pretty cool, since it'll be a whole new way of gaming. Its also similar to the Eye Toy console from a few years ago. Some people might not like it because of its lack of reality. On the positive side, this type of consoles can save a lot of resources without having to build controllers... lol
