Jack Thompson: Hated throughout gaming

In this post I thought I'd shed some light on the infamous Jack Thompson who has been harassing us gamers for years. This man is quite frankly the most hated in gaming, pretty much anyone who reads about gaming knows about him.

In this article by the guys over at gamesradar it shows all the ridiculous things he has attempted in his illustrious career leading up to his disbarment. Now the reason he is no hated is because of the claims that he makes against our poor video games, he takes the debate of violence in video games to a whole new level. As you may have heard in class he likes to call some games 'murder simulators' and almost every high school shooting he tries to blame on video games. On top of this he has tried to get GTA, Bully and Halo 3 filling a law suit for each. See I would have no problem with this if he was acting on the grounds that these games were just violent or something like that but the problem is he's just straight up crazy. For instance his latest charge against the game Medal of Honour included him writing a letter to the secretary of defence for America and saying that the game will be used a training tool for the Taliban. Now this in itself if ridiculous but what is ever more crazy is that when EA decided to rename the Taliban side to 'opposing force' old Jack was rejoicing like he'd actually won a case and in doing so told gamers to 'go to hell'... interesting man old Jack is.

To finish back in 2005 Jack Thompson wrote an open letter to members of the press and the head of the entertainment software association Doug Lowenstein about video game violence and said that he would donate $10,000 to a charity of Doug’s choice if they did. Jack's premise to this was that developers would be too scared to make a game that would train its players to kill them. So in response this very game was made and was called 'I'M O.K. - A Murder Simulator'. Once made Jack of course backed out of his promise saying the statement was 'satirical' so Penny Arcade donated the money on his behalf to which Jacks response was to contact the police to try and get penny arcade shut down or the creators of penny arcade arrested. Old Jack.... we do all really hate him.
