Old School Games

 Hey Team!

Far out, late night, just watched Inception on Blu Ray... Pretty Epic, now to do this considering I just finished my assignment!

Okay, we can all admit we loved the Castlevanias, Metroids and the Ninja Gaiden. These were great all around games with a great theme, action, great storylines and excellent gameplay. However, there were a few greats that had all of the aforementioned qualities minus the great theme. Does lacking a great theme disqualify a game from being great? I don’t think so, I just think that one would play the heck out of it, but just never tell anyone about it.

While doing this assignment, and having played games like World of Goo, Darwinia and Revenge of the Titans, ive really quite enjoyed giving them a go and it brought back some nostalgic memories of back in the day and playing pokemon yellow on my gameboy pocket, and downloading a SNES emulator on my computer and playing old arcade games like Metal Slug. So when I was writing my assignment I managed to download old games like Final Fantasy 4, Warcraft 2, Mario and Metal Slug and I seriously had an awesome time, lust the old graphics, awesome sounds, corny and predicable story line, with the pimping music going along with it. I find that nowadays with the iphones and androids, game developers are making these time wasting basic games to play which use pretty basic graphics, and rely on fun visuals and fun characters to push the game, such games include; Angry Birds, Smurfs, Cut the Rope, Bubble, Street Fighter, Spiderman and CC Ninja. Most of these games are usually based on puzzle solving which is what most of the early games in the late 80's - 90's were about, game like tetris and bubble, I just find it neat how its coming back in a big way.

It's the same with on the Playstation 3's network, all these downloadable games, which are very basic but heaps of fun! Just recently there was a Scott Pilgrim Vs The World game which came out and takes the look of Street Fighter, Metal Slug and Ninja Turtles. I think its great that we get back with tradition.
