First of all I would like to point out that blogging is a completely new concept to me and therefore I apologise if I fail to interest. When enrolling in this paper I did not really know what to expect but so far I have found the topic very interesting. The question of 'what makes you a gamer?' is something which I believe is worth discussing especially when I consider myself a non-gamer. However in saying this I think that being a gamer does not necessarily just include die hard obsessed fans who can be found glued to their computer screens 24 hours of the day. The idea of a gamer is a changing concept especially with the introduction of the social networking sites such as facebook and the idea around casual games such as farmville, which means that more people can be considered gamers.
As well as this I think it is also important to highlight the changing concept around the stereotypical 'gamer'. This is a fluctuating concept, where the typical gamer is no longer a nerdy teenager with glasses and no friends. This is obviously a reflection of the success of the gaming industry which has now surpassed the film industry in terms of income. Furthermore gaming is an immensely personal experience and therefore I agree with the idea that gaming can directly attack you. This can be seen through the way in which gaming can effect and influence reality and individuals day to day lives.
