In my opinion it’s much easier to become immersed within a virtual game rather than real life itself. Reason for this, the player can be whoever they want to be. In regards to sjaduram post I think that by immersing yourself within an environment of warfare the gamer is more likely to be immersed than an actual soldier. Given the obstacles that they face immersion can be dealt with in how the gamer views the game and no experience is needed for them to have that feeling. For example my partner is a hard-core COD gamer when he play's he zones out of reality and into virtual life and he always thinks he's in his own war. But that’s just my opinion! Any way’s after reading through some of the post's trying to get a better understanding of what immersion meant in the context of video games. Immersion can be anything depending on how the gamer views the game. To define immersion so that the readers can immerse themselves with my post immersion can be defined by splitting the term in two definitions diegetic immersion meaning the player is immersed in the act of playing the video game and situated immersion where the player is immersed in playing the game and in the experience of the game space as a spatial and narrated space. However, in another post they described immersion to be real or un-real. I find myself immersed with this one game called 'QWOP' an Olympic game where an athlete runner is controlled by the four key's Q, W, O and P. Which took me a while to get used to and I got more addicted because it was real frustrating and it made me want to try to keep the runner straight instead of flopping his legs all over the place and also to finish but it never happened.
This game is interesting because a lot of people have tried to make the character run successfully like an athlete but was unsuccessful. This made them more immersed and addicted which also happened to me and I was deeply involved in the experiential space.
With many trials any gamer can be immersed with QWOP if played too much.
