Blogging Week 1
The evolution of videogames is similar to that of blogging. It began as a diary, a journal of some sort, where you had to physically pick up a pen and connect it with paper. The invention of the computer allowed blogging to become possible, and later the internet allowed access to different blogs worldwide. One can argue that the history of videogames started similarly. Once upon a time when playing cards and manopoly were only available in store, can now be played by millions online. Games such as solitaire are now automatically included in most computers, as well as pinball and minesweeper. Most gamers would probably refer to these games as basic, boring and even pointless. With the invention of videogame consoles also came the invention of different types of consoles, more advanced consoles, different games and thus, more advanced games. Traditionally, consoles such as PSP enable the player to hold the handheld remote control whilst the "game" takes place on screen with limited physical moevent. Today, we are arguably at our most advanced console, the Nintendo Wii, where the player is a mixture of both historical contents. To play, the player must be both the "diary" and the "blog" in terms of physically moving in order to "move" on screen, and also in terms of being immersed in the game.
