Addicton?

I think that the core argument of video games addiction is based on the assumption that one can be immersed in a video game and consequently losses any control of the situation. This myth is no longer sustainable, video games don’t immersed people, they want to be immersed in the virtual space. It is true that people immersed with videogames can lose track of time, as the same way a cinema goer can spent an entire day watching movies in a theatre. People engage with media texts, film, television, books all the time but video games immersion is the only one considered as an addiction.
It is true that gamers spent a great amount of time interacting with video games because they find people who share the same interest. Video games provide a different scenario for social context and is one of the reason people enjoy spending time playing them. Multiplayers game allows to interact with others and who have the same interest, videogames. It is like facebook but rather than photos people play all the time. However, what people should be cautious of is of problematic use of the media. Rather than addiction gamers could be using video games as a way to escape real life problems so they spent a great amount of time playing them. If it is the case video games do not cause addiction but are a symptom of a major problem.

Video game addiction is a problematic term since it is not possible to establish its existence. People spending time on video game are not all addicted they just like spending time playing them and also helps to interact with others who have same interests. Nevertheless, what people should be aware of problematic use. People that are spending a lot of time playing video games probably are trying to escape from real life problems and find video games an easy way out.
