Nothing Much

So after the games and narrative lecture I went and watched Silent Hill again. To my disappointment it was still the same Silent Hill movie; boring, funny when it was supposed to be scary, just like so many other game adapted films. “Cinematically dire while maintaining a faithful remediation” instantly came to mind, a need to please the fan boys with reference after reference, staying faithful to the source material has seen the let down of many a film. Yet when somebody has the balls to attempt to make a quality game adapted film, the fan boys scream like little girls “how dare they try and make my precious Mortal Kombat so realistic, Reptile isn’t the result of some genetic deformity!” It really is a lose-lose situation that only the very best of filmmakers could dare tackle in an attempt to balance both elements.

I personally would prefer the sacrifice of the source materials for the films sake; a decent film that strays a little is much better than a crappy one that doesn’t.
However this is coming from a person who does not call herself a gamer; I’m sure those who do may disagree with me.

Any who, just a quick little last minute rant.

Oh and do watch the Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer, it really isn’t half bad, just don’t get your hopes up if you actually like it because it isn’t an official trailer, just a proposal by a film-making fan of a possible reboot.
