Cheating In Video Games

Interesting observing how most video games offer cheat features for players to use and make their gaming experience a little more interesting. "Cheats" are often offered in a various games as a way of enhancing the game play and adding a little more spice to the storyline. Personally I was never big on cheats as I saw them just as a means of fun in the game and not a serious influence on the actual storyline/game play. I’m starting to feel that I may be one of the few that go about it that particular way as a lot of my fellow gamers tend to use cheats quite readily and with less hesitation than I do. Interestingly enough though, cheats that are offered in more realistic games are the ones that are worth more scrutinizing. Take the grand theft auto series as an example (GTAIII onwards) and the cheats offered to the gamer by rock star north. The fact that grand theft auto has quite realistic game play makes the introduction of cheats all the more interesting. Enter a code with the controller and boom a tank falls out of the sky for you to wreak havoc on the streets. This realistic sense of barrier breaking is quite good for the gamer who would probably feel addicted to being an absolute rebel / terror in the video game yet a normal citizen in real life, all thanks to the cheat on grand theft auto. The immersion into this unrealistic sense of rebellion is quite priceless really be it in grand theft auto or any other game, here you can cheat the game and be able to do things that the average gamer can’t do be it permanently or for a short period of time.
